It was an impressive first look at Sykes since back in the Spring. Lean and long-limbed at 6-foot-2, 165-pounds, Sykes is an athletic mover and gets down the mound well followed by a quick and loose arm. Pitchability stands out as filled up the zone and looked the part against a potent opposing lineup. 4.0 IP, 2 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 5 K in a run-rule win. Sykes creates deception and hides the ball well from a shorter, compact arm action. Fastball sat 81-83 (T84 MPH) with life and some ride through the zone. Curveball was the go to pitch and created depth at 73-76 for whiffs.
