South Suburban JC commit. Currently ranked No. 193 in the state. Started on the mound for the Porters and threw it well over his five innings of work, not allowing a run on two hits and four strikeouts. Listed at 6-foot-1, 200-pounds, Martinez has some strength throughout his frame and a strong lower-half. He worked a sinking fastball in the 80-83 mph range to pair off an 11/5 breaking ball at 67-70 mph. Hitting out of the three-hole, Martinez helped his own cause at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. His swing is fluid with a controlled load, coiling into balance before firing through with strong hands, showing a knack for the barrel consistently. Intriguing two-way prospect in the ‘23 class.
