Carl Sandburg JC commit. Athletic 5-foot-7, 160-pound frame. Started on the mound and hit out of the six-hole. Peterson was the MVP of Saturday’s game, thanks to what he did both on the mound and at the plate. At the plate, Peterson drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh with a sac fly to center field. The right-handed hitter operates from a tall stance with a small stride. Whippy, pure swing with a slightly uphill bat path. Gap-to-gap approach. Patient approach at the plate as he drew three walks in his first three plate appearances. On the mound, Peterson threw a complete game as he struck out seven batters, while allowing one earned run. The right-hander is an easy-mover that operates with a compact arm action from a ¾ slot. His fastball sat 78-80 and topped out at 81. Mixed in a curveball that sat 67-69 with late actions.
