At just 14 years old, Gomez hit out of the four holes for an impressive Athletes HQ team. At the plate, the left-handed hitter presented a simple setup, sinking into his legs with loose actions and a flat bat path. Defensively, Gomez showed quality actions behind the plate, receiving the ball well with strong hands. The backstop also flashed a strong arm that helped limit the run game.
The rising freshman Gomez continued to impress Friday, showing a patient approach and produced an opposite field single. The left-handed hitter has shown a simple loose stroke all weekend. Defensively, the catcher continued to impress, showing fluid actions with his hands and flashing an arm that kept the running game in check. The LHH-catcher profile is often coveted, and with Gomez playing up a year, he will most definitely be a name to follow.
