Athletic, easy mover down the mound, loose arm with clear acceleration out front. Fastball sat 89-92 mph throughout and topped at 93 mph early. Threw two different breaking balls in this look, both in the mid-to-upper-70s - Curveball showed 11/5 shape with late, sharp action at times, garnered swing-and-miss. Continues to look like one of the top arms in the senior class.

Fastball touched 95 mph on the first pitch of the game, but sat 91-93 mph early, and later settled around 88-91 mph. His slider sat 80-84 mph throughout with sharp, swing-and-miss action at times. Also mixed in two change-ups at 82-84 mph with fade. A high-follow arm in Illinois’ senior class.

A three-sport athlete, Young continued to be one of the top prospects in the state's senior class. It’s loose and athletic on the mound with repeatable actions and a compact, quick arm action with clear acceleration out front. His fastball worked mostly in the low-90s, and touched 94 mph in the fifth inning with life and mostly straight actions. Slider worked in the low-80s but was up to 85 mph in the first inning, played with 10/4 shape and sharp with depth at times, threw two change-ups in the low-80s with fade. Finished the game with 10 strikeouts, three walks, two earned runs and four hits in 6 ⅓ innings pitched. A high-level, high-ceiling arm in Illinois.

Started on the mound for the Sages, and although he didn’t get the results he wanted, it was still an impressive look at the uncommitted junior. Athletic mover with a high leg lift with tuck, tall and fall delivery down the mound, foot lands closed towards third base. Clean and quick arm path out of a ¾ slot with noticeable acceleration out front. Came out of the gate throwing three 90 mph fastballs in a row, but sat mostly 87-89 mph early on, showed clear ride through the zone with arm-side run at times. Mixed in a breaking ball at 74-77 mph with varying shapes, worked best when thrown hard, producing 12/6 shape, garnering multiple swings-and-misses. A must-know uncommitted junior in Illinois.

Started on the mound for the Sages and batted sixth, still impressed on the day despite unfavorable results. 6-foot-1, 160-pound frame that boasts athleticism throughout, highly projectable with a high waist. Athletic delivery with a short stride; has a loose arm that’s quick out front from a ¾ slot. Fastball sat 84-87 mph with carry through the zone and he turned to a low-70s curveball with late, sharp bite at times; showed confidence to throw in any count, throwing it for a strike in a 3-0 count. A right-handed hitter at the plate, Young blasted a two-run home run in the first inning.

RHP Ike Young (Monticello, 2027) was one of the more intriguing prospects in attendance all weekend. Listed at an uber-projectable 6-foot-1 160-pounds, long/lean levers with room to add on strength. The right-hander has a low-effort and easy delivery, simple tall/fall operation down the mound that works in-line, athletic finish with a loose and whippy arm, over-the-top slot. Young worked his fastball in the 82-85 mph range, playing with some carry through the zone and collecting plenty of swing and miss. To pair off the fastball he went to a mid-70s breaking ball, developing feel and spin with 11/5 shape. Upside arm to know in IL.
