4/28/14 Currently ranked No. 41 in Illinois’ 2015 class, No. 179 overall. 5-foot-10, 160-pound two-way talent. Left-handed pitcher, quick and loose arm, some length on backside, high-3/4 slot. Competitive demeanor on mound, strike thrower, works bottom half of zone well. Fastball topped at 85 mph, sitting in 82-84 range in early innings, sneaky arm-side life. Throws his curveball for consistent strikes, coming out of same window, ranging between 67-69 mph. Has potential to be excellent go-to pitch. Chiefly worked fastball/curveball combo for entire game. Threw a four-hit complete game. He struck out four, walked two and hit two batters. Also a left-handed hitter, he ran a 7.00 60 and was clocked at 88 mph from outfield at Preseason All-State Showcase in February.
2/16/14 Talented two-way athlete, 5-foot-10, 160-pound, outfielder/left handed pitcher. Defensively has loose outfield actions, athletic footwork in the outfield, natural actions. Traditional outfield arm action, long, loose and over the top, produced carry and accuracy at 88 mph. Offensively hits from an open stance, smooth loading action, short stride, excellent balance throughout. Line drive type hitter, hits with rhythm and get extension. 86 mph exit velocity from the tee. 7.00 runner in the 60. On the mound, arm works loosely with length, high ¾ slot. Fastball has cut action, showed control of the zone, touched 84 mph while sitting 81-83 mph. Curveball has 11/5 shape, occasional sweep, some slurve, thrown with near fastball arm speed, 68-70 mph. Changeup has near fastball arm action, slight cut action, 74-75 mph.
1/20/13 - 5-foot-9, 150-pound left-handed outfielder. Defensively shows athletic actions, soft hands, plays through the baseball, uses a shuffle at transfer, quick clean exchange. Arm plays well, shows accuracy, 81 mph. Hits from the left side, open stance, uses short stride, quiet setup and swing, high finish, line drive, gap to gap hitter, smooth swing.
9-20-2018: As a junior last season, Yalowitz was a potential Day Two selection, but suffered a prolonged slump throughout the spring and went undrafted. The talent is there to once again be considered in those rounds, this time as a money saving senior. Yalowitz has the loose, hitter’s hands that scouts look for. He uses all fields and can drive the gaps as he showed during the scrimmage. On the evening, he belted two home runs and a triple. His 9th inning triple had an exit velocity of 99 mph, while his 12th inning home run left the yard with a jet pack at 106. He’s an above average runner underway with the same time of arm strength. Defensively he makes all the plays and has the potential to be a plus defender at a corner at the next level. (Seifert)
3/7/18 - 5'11/180, L/L, Junior. The top 2018 draft eligible hitting prospect for the Illini, Yalowitz has the “hitter’s hands” that scouts look for. Loose, handsy swing with a knack for finding the barrel. Sets up in an unorthodox fashion with a wide open stance on the toes of his front foot. Longer stride towards the plate and pitcher. Consistently gets to the correct hitting position and his hands are so gifted he is able to handle the inside fastball. He uses all fields. Above average runner underway with an average to above arm. Average defender now in right field, with a chance to be plus in the future. As a wiry bodied corner outfielder, he will need to add some additional strength and use his lower body to generate more power in his swing. Regardless of his current “tweener” profile, with another strong season Yalowitz should be selected later in Day 2 of the draft. (Seifert)
