Committed to Kankakee CC... On the mound and at the plate, Lanning enjoyed a monster junior campaign as he helped lead the Indians to a NIC-10 championship. A three-year starter, Lanning posted an 11-1 record with an astounding 10 complete games and 3 shutouts. He finished with a 1.74 ERA and 64 strikeouts in 76.1 innings. At the plate, the left-handed hitter led the team with a .530 average, and tallied 13 doubles, 5 homers, 61 hits, 43 runs and 8 stolen bases while striking out only 5 times. Two-year standout hit .500 and went 11-0 as junior. As a sophomore he .367 with 33 RBI.
