James Cravens, LHP, DuQuoin (IL), 2023
Uncommitted. Cravens owns an intriguing 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame with long levers and plenty of room for added strength. It’s an easy operation down the mound with a compact arm action with clean acceleration out front. His fastball sat 84-87 mph, topping out at 88.1 mph with quality spin (avg. 2402 rpm), and run to pair (avg. -16.5 in. HM). Cravens showed two off-speed pitches during his ‘pen in Carterville, throwing a curveball in the mid-70s with short actions, and above-average spin at times (T2530 rpm). He displayed feel to throw a change-up at 73-75 mph, killing the spin and creating some fade to the arm-side.
