5.5.15 - 6-foot-2, 205-pound physical and muscular right-handed hitting third baseman, extremely strong lower half, impressed with power potential at the plate, ranked No. 44 in IL, No. 395 overall. Dittmar is committed to Wichita State. He tripled off the wall in left into the wind in his second at bat, crushing an 81 mph fastball that would likely have been a homer on a regular day. He also hit a foul ball home run in his third at bat that narrowly missed staying fair down the line in left. Hits from an open, crouched setup, advanced bat speed slightly uphill bat path looking to lift. Ran 5.07 to first on a groundout to third. Possesses plus arm at third base (up to 91 mph across the infield at last year’s Top Prospect Showcase), from short quick arm action. Impressed in pregame with soft hands, quick turn from third on the double play feed to second. Did not see any game action. Dittmar’s fastball sat in the 85-88 mph range this summer, and reportedly reached as high as 92 mph this winter, which is believable watching him throw the ball in pregame. Don’t rule out the possibility of his bat at the next level, as he fits the mold of a physical, power hitting third baseman at the hot corner.
2/8/15 - Wichita State commit. 6-foot-2, 204 pound right-handed pitcher, strong build, good arm strength. Tall and fall delivery, improved direction in delivery, athletic finish. Arm action is quick and strong, loose, high ¾ slot. Fastball is mostly straight, four seam action with good finish, sat 86-87 mph, touched 88 mph. Curveball has 11/5 action, 70-72 mph, good action, slight tilt. Throws changeup with aggressive arm action, fastball similar, 73-76 mph, good arm side action.
6/19/14 - 6-foot-1, 186-pound right-handed hitting two-way player currently ranked No. 15 in Illinoisâ 2016 class, No. 55 overall impressed with arm strength both at third base and on the mound. Physical and muscular build, hits from a balanced setup with a short, smooth load and a short stride with a level bat path producing line drives from gap-to-gap and 84 mph exit velocity. Defensively, showcased the top arm across the infield at the event hitting 91 mph from short, high ¾ arm angle. Showed soft hands and clean actions at third, and ranged well deep to his backhand into foul territory. Ran 7.57 in the 60. On the mound, Dittmar sat 85-87 mph, touching 88, from an over the top arm action. Leans backwards at load with posture, getting arm slot up higher than his throwing motion at third base. Arm action is longer on the mound, than in the field as well. Throws slightly across his body, with front foot landing slightly closed. 72-74 mph curveball showed some 12-6 action and late break, but was erratic down in the zone. 71-73 mph changeup exhibited some arm side run. p>2/9/14 - Athletic build with strength, solid lower half, 6-foot, 185-pound two-way player. Defensively Dittmar posted the strongest arm across the diamond at 89 mph. Arm action is short, high ¾ slot with accuracy and carry. Soft hands at third base, athletic defender, advanced actions, excellent back hand, makes it with ease, will be able to guard the line at a high level. Offensively hits from a balanced stance, short stride, good lower half and excellent balance through contact. Hands are quick, hands generate bat speed, stays on top of the baseball, recoil finish. Line drive gap to gap approach with occasional pull side tendency. Projects for more power in the future, 83 mph exit velocity. Dittmar is one of the top third baseman in the Illinois and is a high follow. On the mound delivery works directly, quick loose arm action, high ¾ slot. Fastball is mostly straight, 84-85 mph, showed better control from the stretch. Curveball has 11/5 action, near fastball arm speed 71-73 mph. Changeup has sink, fastball similar arm action, 68-69 mph, showed feel for the zone.
7/23/13 - Strong build, 6-foot, 178-pound two way player, athletic frame. Hits from an open stance, smooth load with short stride, solid balance throughout. Pull side approach, hits with rhythm, showed extension. Posted three hits over the two day event. Defensively showed advanced arm strength across the diamond (81 mph), showed carry from a high ¾ arm slot. Hands work softly, clean exchange, showed body control. Showed the ability to make plays to his forehand side at a high level. On the mound Dittmar showed an athletic delivery with a tall and fall approach. Arm action is short with quickness, high ¾ slot. Fastball was mostly straight, 80-83 mph, showed control. Flashed a curveball at 65 mph.
