Last spring Ruettiger was hampered by a nagging hamstring injury, but the three-year standout still managed to bat .423 with 10 doubles, three triples and one home run. As the leadoff hitter he drove in 28 runs and scored 28 times. He stole eight bases and posted three victories on the mound.
