In pregame, the third baseman's defensive actions immediately stood out thanks to his above-average footwork and confident hands, with athleticism that allowed his defensive skillset to play up. At the plate, the right-handed bat presents an athletic setup, utilizing a medium leg kick to get into a position of launch with a direct, slightly uphill bat path. The Nazareth sophomore would finish the day 2-for-4 with 2 RBI. With clear room for strength gains, Montano's baseball acumen makes him a name to follow in Illinois' 2027 class.
