Northwest Suburban Summer ID: Positional Analysis

On Wednesday, July 9th, the Prep Baseball Illinois staff traveled to the Wintrust Field in Schaumburg, Illinois for the Northwest Suburban Summer ID. This open event was host to over 40 players, and it consistently gives our staff a strong look at the talent the area has to offer.

Today, we’re taking a look at all of the position players from the event, with a Top-10 overall position ranking.

TOP POSITION PLAYERS

1. Drew Whitney, Barrington (IL), 2028
Positional Profile: C/1B
Body: 6-0, 189-pounds.
Hit: LHH. Simple setup, short lift-and-place stride. Uphill path, looks to lift the baseball, has jump off the barrel, loose hands, pull-side approach. 67.9 mph bat speed with 15g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 99 mph max exit velocity (83.1 avg.); 370-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. C - 72 mph. Works long hop, 3/4 slot, half circle.
Defense: 2.07-2.21 pop time range; Works long hop, feet replace, moves clean on block.
Athletic Testing: 7.80 runner in the 60-yard dash; 17.70-inch max vertical jump.
