RHP Josiah Patterson (Kenwood Academy, 2027) gave our staff an upside look with his four-pitch arsenal. Athletic 5-foot-10, 184-pound frame. The right-hander worked from a full arm circle, utilizing a loose ¾ slot. His fastball played heavy with some late sink at 85-87 mph, topping 87.9 mph with a max IVB of 20.2 and an average IVB of 16.5”. He also employed a sharp 11/5 curveball at 74-77 mph and a slider at 72-74 mph that both had spin rates in the 2300-2400+ range, and flashed a changeup with downer fade at 77 mph.
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 5-9, 184-pounds. Broad shoulders with a developed lower half.
Delivery: Controlled, up-tempo delivery, high leg lift with coil, drop and drive lower half.
Arm Action: RH. Full arm action, loose, whippy, 3/4 arm slot.
FB: T88, 85-87 mph. Heavy actions out of the hand, with slight sink. T2158, 2061 average rpm.
CB: 74-78 mph. Sharp 11/5 break. T2445, 2328 average rpm.
SL: 73-74 mph. Tight lateral action. T2429, 2351 average rpm.
CH: 77-77 mph. Flashed downer fade. T1742, 1742 average rpm.
Patterson would show a quality two-pitch mix during this Saturday start, showing a fastball up to 86 mph along with an upper-70s slider that sported spin rates north of 2400 rpm. Athletic mover who worked from a 3/4s release, Patterson would show confidence in the zone with a 62.3% strike rate across his five inning outing in which he collected four strikeouts. Patterson would control the running game well with multiple successful pickoffs, a well controlled slide step, and evident baseball acumen on the mound. 5-foot-9, 171-pound frame with present athleticism.

Arm: RH. INF - 80 mph. Full circle, plays true, 3/4 slot, clean action.
Defense: Fluid feet, soft hands with timing through the ball, quick transfers when needed.
Athletic Testing: 7.96 runner in the 60-yard dash; 18.00-inch max vertical jump.

Body: 5-9, 171-pounds. Broad shoulders, developed lower-half with strength.
Delivery: Controlled delivery, medium leg kick with coil, tall/fall lower-half.

FB: T81, 79-81 mph. Clean out of the hand, mostly straight actions. T1918, 1894 average rpm.
CB: 72-74 mph. Inconsistent shape, developing feel. T2204, 2146 average rpm.
SL: 73-74 mph. Short lateral action, lands. T2115, 2047 average rpm.
CH: 74-75 mph. Plays with sink, controls it, best of the offspeed. T1804, 1710 average rpm.
Patterson impressed us with his ability to attack hitters and also get weak contact. From the right side he has a repeatable, tall and fall delivery. Throws from a low ¾ slot. FB sat 72-75 mph, topping at 76. The SL collected weak contact throughout the outing. Final line from Thursday morning: CG SHO, 7 IP, 4 H, 7 K.
