Built at a thick 5-foot-8, 177 pounds, Arias has demonstrated that he has an innate feel to hit this summer. After a big weekend at the Badger State Battle, Arias was the centerpiece of a team that averaged 12 runs a game in the tournament. He doubled twice and launched a deep home run in the semifinals against STiKS Black on Sunday, going a combined 6-for-17 on the week. He swings a fast right-handed bat with a robust feel to hit, swinging with authority and intent, which complements his premium bat strength.
One infielder that stood out amongst his peers was Kyler Arias (Antioch, WI) of PBA 16U. Arias went 3-for-6 with three doubles and two RBIs. The right-handed hitting Arias consistently peppered the right-field wall, showing a willingness to take pitches the other way. Arias made hard contact all day long, even when he got out, and has true power potential in his swing.
2.18.19 - 5-foot-8, 177-pound right-handed hitting catcher, thick build. At the plate, sets up tall, high hands, slight barrel wrap, toe lifted stride. Loose hands through contact, short, fluid bat path, all fields approach. Above average bat speed, exit velocity topped 95 mph from a tee. Defensively, pop times ranged 2.25-2.34. Some rhythm in hands, feet get in position, long transfer to release, deadened blocks. Shorter arm action, over the top slot, throws topped 69 mph from the crouch. 8.14 runner in the 60.
1.27.18 - 5-foot-8, 177-pound catcher, projectable strength. Right-handed hitter, balanced setup, short stride. Uphill path, pull-side contact; 86 mph exit velocity. Defensively, short-arm action, over-the-top slot; 64 mph from the crouch. Recorded pop times between 2.36-2.59. 4.94 home-to-first as a runner.
