INF/RHP Lucas Acevedo (Lincoln-Way West; Illinois-Chicago commit) showed well at the plate and on the bump for the ProCase team. Offensively, the right-handed hitter swatted two backside doubles, while having an overall athletic look to his game. The 5-foot-10, 159-pound two-way prospect also had a strong showing during the workout - running a 6.88 60 and tossing an 88 mph bullet from across the infield. On the bump, Acevedo ran his fastball up to 89 mph with over 15” of arm-side run to it on average, while also spinning it at an average rate of 2311 rpm.

UIC commit. Ranked No. 41 in the Illinois’ 2025 class. Another talented two-way prospect for the Warriors. Started at shortstop, led off and also came in out of the bullpen late in the game. Stood out with the bat all day long. Aggressive approach. Ready to hit from the time he gets in the box. Athletic, quick swing, pull-side, line-drive approach in this look. Finished 3-for-3 with two RBI and two walks. Athletic, easy actions on the infield, confident hands and strong arm that plays with carry across the diamond. Also hopped on the mound for an inning of work. Struck out two, walked one and gave up a solo home run on his one mistake, a change up, left up-and-out over the plate. Impressive arsenal and operation. Loose, clean, quick arm with three potential above-average offerings. Changeup played at 77-78 mph with heavy fade and sink when right; lowers slot at times. Only saw the slider in the look, in warm ups. Fastball shows life, mostly straight and worked 87-88 mph. Two-way prospect with upside to all parts of his game.
Illinois-Chicago commit. Currently ranked No. 41 in the state. Compact, athletic 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame. Came out of the ‘pen for just one hitter but was extremely impressive, working his fastball up to 90 mph with feel for three pitches. To pair off his fastball, he went to a sharp slider thrown with intent at 78 mph with the ability to land in the zone. He also went to a fading changeup that he sells with arm-speed at 77-79 mph.
Illinois-Chicago commit. Compact, 5-foot-9, 170-pound frame, athletic look. Started at shortstop and hit out of the leadoff spot. Advanced defender on the infield, soft hands with fluid footwork, moves well to both sides of his glove, plays with rhythm and timing. Strong arm across the infield, plays accurately with life and carry. Simple, easy swing from the right-side, patient approach with quality pitch recognition, drawing two walks in the contest. Athletic hands, creates some separation at footstrike with his hands before working through the zone, looks to stay inside the baseball. Athletic two-way prospect that has above-average knowledge and feel for the game.
INF/RHP Lucas Acevedo (Lincoln-Way West; Illinois-Chicago commit) is an upside two-way prospect to know in the state. On the mound, the right-hander worked his fastball up to 89.5 mph while cruising comfortably at 86-89 in his ‘pen, playing with carry and some backspin through the zone. His slider has out-pitch potential, playing in the low-80s with over 2500 rpm at times with short lateral action. He showed advanced feel for his changeup, landing it in the zone 100% of the time per TrackMan, playing with over 20” of run at times at 78-79 mph. At the plate, the right-handed hitter has loose hands with a flat path, staying through the zone and looking to go the other way. He’s an athletic defender on the infield, moving quickly to both sides of his glove with range and soft hands. His arm is also well above-average from the infield, topping out at 90 mph across the diamond.
Illinois-Chicago commit. Currently ranked No. 19 in the state. Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 150-pound build with room to fill out. Impressed early on with his round of defense in IO, boasting fluid/soft hands and active footwork, getting around the ball well and also showing an athletic run-through in-game. Offensively, the right-handed hitter starts in a relaxed setup before swinging his hands back into a high load, firing through the zone with a flat path with bat-speed. Simple stroke that looks to stay inside the baseball. High-follow 2025 with legitimate two-way potential.
UIC commit, currently ranked No. 19 in the Illinois’ 2025 class. 5-foot-10, 150-pound, right-handed hitter with a well-proportioned athletic build with some definition in the lower half. Got moved up to the leadoff spot for one of the first times on the year and started at second base. Slotted in naturally to the leadoff spot. Takes consistent, competitive at-bats, sees a lot of pitches, rarely chases out of the zone and above-average bat-to-ball skills. Simple, repeatable swing that stays direct and flat through the zone; creates well-above average jump off the barrel given his stature. Finished the day 2-for-3 with a deep home run to left-center field, three runs, two RBIs and a walk. Stood out on the infield as well playing with smooth, reliable actions. Consistently makes the routine play and showed the ability to handle bad, inconsistent hops with no issues. Competitive, even-keeled demeanor and approach to the game.
Illinois-Chicago commit. Currently ranked No. 19 in the state. 5-foot-10, 150-pound frame with upside. Gave a brief, yet impressive look out of the ‘pen for the Warriors. The right-hander worked his fastball in the 86-88 mph range to pair off a sharp 11/5 breaking ball at 76 mph and fading change at 81 mph. He attacked the zone with all three of his pitches throughout the look and looks to have more in the tank as he continues to fill out.
UIC commit, currently ranked No. 19 in the Illinois’ 2025 class. Another true two-way prospect on the roster for Lincoln-Way West. Started at second base and hit in the seven hole. Had one of the biggest swings of the day, a ringing double to straight away center field that started a rally in the bottom of the sixth inning that led to two key insurance runs. Athletic, flat swing that stays short to and long through the zone with sneaky jump off the barrel and the ability to backspin the baseball. Also, jumped on the mound late in the game and threw 1.1 innings. Athletic, clean and quick arm plays from an over-the-top slot; highly projectable with much more velocity to come. Flashed advanced spin and action on the slider at times; has a chance to be one of the top sliders in the class. Thrown with intent, hard, late, tight action, 10/4 shape when at its best, sat 75-76 mph. Fastball plays clean out of the hand, mostly straight, lively offering that sat 84-85 mph, touched 88. Struck out one and gave up one hit in his brief stint.
University of Illinois-Chicago commit. Currently ranked No. 19 in the state. 5-foot-10, 150-pounds, athletic build with room to grow, batted ninth and played second for the No. 4 team in the state. The right-handed hitter, works from a balance stance, loads into the back leg with a heel raise trigger for timing. Uphill path with athletic hands, uses the whole field. Went 1-for-2 with a double down the left field line. Defensively, has athletic footwork with soft hands and looks like he has a chance to develop into a shortstop later in his varsity career.
