LHP Luke Hickey (Fenwick) stands in an upside frame at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds with plenty of room for strength to come. He worked out of a stretch-only delivery on the mound with a compact, quick arm action out of a ¾ slot. His fastball sat 82-84 mph with some life and carry through the zone. His change-up played with depth low in the zone, and his curveball showed 12/6 shape with an average of -8.7 inches of induced vertical break. Hickey also tossed in a cutter with horizontal actions, sitting in the low-70s.
Positional Profile: LHP
Body: 6-2, 160.3-pounds. Trim, high-waisted frame with projection. Long levers.
Delivery: Stretch only, starts with feet staggered, up-tempo into a medium balance point, rides pre-bend in back knee down the mound, stays in-line.
Arm Action: LH. Short arm circle, high 3/4 slot.
FB: T84, 83-84 mph. Plays with natural sinking action through the zone. T2199, 2127 average rpm.
CB: 67-68 mph. Sharp 1/7 action with depth, feel under the zone. T2330, 2193 average rpm.
CH: 73-74 mph. Similar to the fastball out of the hand, kept under the zone. T1400, 1349 average rpm.
CUT: 72-74 mph. Short, lateral action.
LHP Luke Hickey (Fenwick) provided an upside look on the mound. The high-waisted southpaw stands in at 6-foot-2, 160-pounds with added room to fill out the frame. Hickey punched out two batters over his two innings of work and showed high-feel for the zone with his 82-84 mph (T85) fastball (78% strikes). Pairing off his fastball was a sweeping-type curveball at 68-71 mph, and a cutter at 75-77 mph that was thrown for strikes 60% of the time.
