RHP Nick Linares (Payton College Prep, 2026) stands in a well-built, 6-foot-1, 206-pound frame. He showed an intentful delivery on the mound with a fastball up to 90 mph, but sitting mostly 88-89 mph throughout. He then turned to a curveball that played with 12/6 shape, playing with depth down in the zone, and a low-70s change-up that flashed heavy fade and depth at times. Linares is an uncommitted arm to follow.
Positional Profile: 3B/RHP
Body: 6-1, 195-pounds. Present strength, round shoulders and developed lower-half.
Delivery: Simple, quiet mover, high leg lift, tall/fall down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Compact arm path, 3/4 slot.
FB: T90, 88-89 mph. Carry and ride through the zone. T2115, 2037 average rpm.
CB: 70-72 mph. 12/6 shape, depth. T1643, 1546 average rpm.
CH: 76-79 mph. Flashed heavy fade at times, throws it down. T1583, 1529 average rpm.
Linares would show a quality profile on the mound Saturday during his evening start in which the right-handed pitcher showed a fastball that would sit 80-84 mph and was paired with a breaking ball in the low 70s. The Walter Payton product would throw four innings of quality baseball while only allowing two hits. Linares had a controlled tempo on the bump with a 3/4 arm slot and release that created a deceptive look for hitters. 6-foot-1, 195-pound frame.
