INF Luke Shuckenbrock (Gillespie) showed to be an athletic prospect on both sides of the ball. He presents a lean 5-foot-8, 150-pound frame with room to fill in the coming years. The right-handed hitter displayed a loose, handsy swing that utilizes a flat path for line drive contact. Defensively, what stood out the most about Schuckenbrock’s game were his overall actions up the middle paired with evident athleticism and motor for the shortstop position.

Body: 5-8, 150.1-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic/twitchy mover, medium leg kick into coiled balance point, drop/drive lower-half, in-line stride/finish.
Arm Action: RH. Short , quick, compact arm action, 3/4 slot. Fired two scoreless innings with one hit allowed, four strikeouts and no walks.
FB: T81, 80-81 mph. Plays like a sinker with armside run and fade. T2097, 1901 average rpm.
SL: 67-70 mph. Has feel for the zone, 10/4 action. T1732, 1617 average rpm.
CH: 69-72 mph. Late armside fade, plays well off the fastball. Best of the offspeed. T1581, 1242 average rpm.
SPLT: 69-69 mph. Kills spin, plays with heavy sink.

Arm: RH. INF - 82 mph. Quick release, 3/4 slot with acceleration out front.
Defense: Soft hands, plays low and through the ball, active footwork with timing, confident in his glove.

MIF Luke Schuckenbrock (Gillespie, 2026) popped to our staff last spring, as he started up the middle as a freshman for a Gillespie squad that finished 32-1 at the 2A classification. Schuckenbrock carries himself with all sorts of moxy, stepping into the batter’s box with a presence to him. It’s a loose, athletic right-handed swing that stays in rhythm and works flat through the zone, backspinning line drives to all fields. Perhaps his biggest asset comes is his glove, however, as Schuckenbrock took arguably the day’s most polished round of infield defense. He floated around the turf, covering ground confidently and in rhythm both up the middle and to his backhand. Schuckenbrock’s soft hands and clean funnels help him get the ball out quickly, and he’s able to accurately throw from multiple slots, especially on the move.
