C Maxx Grieme (Taylorville, 2026) emerged a winner from the day, coming off a strong showing a couple weeks prior in southern Illinois. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound backstop showcased a strong right-handed swing, working on top of the baseball with intent to lift up the middle and the other way, topping out at 101 mph for his EV with an average of 90 mph throughout his round. He has a clean glove behind the plate, working in-line from the chute with a clean transfer and pop-time as low as 1.80 (T81 mph).

C Maxx Grieme (Taylorville, 2026) has made significant strides in his game since we last saw him at our State Games in August. Now presenting a lean, well-proportioned 5-foot-10, 199-pound frame with present strength throughout. Grieme started his day off with a loud showing during batting practice, displaying a direct and repeatable bat path from the right side, barreling baseballs throughout his round with an average EV of 92.3 mph, while leading the event in max exit velocity (102 mph). He was also impressive behind the dish where he led the event in both pop time (1.80) and catcher velocity (81 mph). As strong as his arm played, he was mostly accurate with his throws, landing on the second base-side of the bag. Grieme is going to be an uncommitted name for coaches to follow throughout the upcoming spring and summer.

Grieme had an impressive all-around day. He stands in a strong, 5-foot-9, 184-pound frame with athleticism throughout. Grieme, a right-handed hitter, delivered a two-strike, no-doubt home run over the left field wall, displaying a simple and direct path that works slightly uphill through the zone. He’s a fluid and loose mover behind the dish, showing quality receiving actions and a strong arm on throws down to second (1.95 pop time.) Ranked No. 44 in Illinois’ 2026 class, Grieme is a must-follow prospect.
4/27/24
Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 44 in Illinois’ sophomore class. Stands in a strong and athletic 5-foot-9, 183-pound frame. Started behind the plate and batted second for the Tornadoes. Grieme really stood out with his work behind the plate throughout the day; hard worker, agile in the crouch, well above-average receiving actions, glove worked high-to-low and stole strikes consistently. Has a strong arm on throws down to second, plays with carry to the bag. At the plate he’s a right-handed hitter with a loose and easy load and an uphill bat path. Barrelled a no-doubt home run over the left field wall in the day’s second game. A must-know uncommitted sophomore in Illinois.

Athletic build with strength at 5-foot-10, 170-pounds. Played up an age level this weekend, competed and looked the part. Really impressed our staff with his actions behind the dish, athletic and agile mover with quality receiving traits, also showed a strong arm on throws down to second, throwing runners out. At the plate, a right-handed hitter, has a simple, fluid load with a short bat path that stays through the zone. Created a lot of hard contact showing the ability to barrel the baseball against older competition. A name-to-know moving forward in Illinois’ 2026 class.
