Displaying a strong, athletic and proportionate 5-foot-11, 162-pound frame; Hurtgen helped contribute to the Wildcat’s 8-0 win over CBT. The right-handed batter reached on every appearance going 1-for-1 at the plate with a walk scoring two runs. Mechanically, Hurtgen has a loose and relaxed stance with a slight crouch. He has a double tap stride, quickly turning on the ball and fully extending on the follow through. Behind the plate, Hurtgen was a brick wall and did not allow anyone to steal on him as he possesses a quick arm with a 1.98 pop time.

Hurtgen was throwing seeds behind the plate at an event best 78 mph from the catching position with consistent pop times under 2.00 seconds, with his best coming in at 1.97. His soft hands and ability to handle pitchers when catching bullpens was impressive. He folds well, and is able to handle hard breaking balls in and below the zone. Hurtgen can also handle the bat showing loose and quick hands with a short path spraying line drives to all fields.

Uncommitted. Hurtgen was a standout both offensively and defensively for Watertown during an up-and-down 2-2 week. At the plate Hurtgen went 5-for-16 with two RBIs and scored two runs. Defensively Hurtgen was able to control the running game throughout the week including throwing out two runners versus Fort Atkinson including the tying runner at third base.
