10.12.14 - Long projectable left handed hitting two-way player, 6-foot-3, 195-pounds, frame projects well. Displayed advanced tools at the Unsigned Senior Showcase. Posted event best 60-yard dash at 6.68 as well as event best arm strength from the outfield at 92 mph. Defensively showed the ability to play through the baseball, arm showed carry from an over the top slot, accurate to target. Left handed hitter, wide setup, drops hands at load, heel lift trigger, lower half showed some activity, good balance throughout. Found the barrel repeatedly in BP, bat speed present, slight uphill bat path. 81 mph exit velocity from the tee. Highly projectable left handed hitting outfielder. Works with a tall and fall style delivery, shows some effort. Arm action is short, over the top slot, quick arm. Fastball was mostly straight, occasionally heavy feel, 79-82 mph. Slider had downward action, showed some feel, showed more depth than lateral action, 72-75 mph, near fastball arm speed. Changeup is mostly straight, near fastball arm action, 71-72 mph.

3/16/14 - 6-foot-3, 180-pound two-way player, long frame, slender build. On the mound arm works from an over the top slot with some effort. Fastball is mostly straight, 81-82 mph, touched 83 mph. Slider has depth, more downward action, 71-75 mph. Straight changeup flashed sink, 70-72 mph. Offensively hits from a wide stance, short stride. Bat path is long, late trigger, above average bat speed, 90 mph exit velocity from the tee. Defensively plays in the outfield with two hands, over the top arm action. Above average footspeed, 4.01 runner down the line.

6/26/13 - Projectable lanky left-handed hitting outfielder and right-handed pitcher stands 6-foot-3, 175 pounds. Scharnek displayed some rhythm and drop-and-drive type delivery on the mound. Throws with shorter arm action from an over-the-top slot. His fastball is mostly straight, sits 79-81 mph topping at 82 mph, showed control. Throws a 71-73 mph slider with some late 11/5 action, and his curveball ranges 64-67 mph. Scharnek showed foot-speed running a 4.14 home-to-first. Offensively hits from a wide setup using a short stride. Showed an approach at the plate and maintains balance through his swing. His bat path was long, slightly uphill, and recorded an 81 mph exit speed off the tee. Definitely a player to watch as he physically matures and develops added feel.
