It was my first look at Schlicht and the RHP displayed great tempo with a low 90’s FB and deceiving SL that allowed him to go 7.0 IP / 11 K / 0 BB / 0 K. The Stanford commit faced quality hitters but did a nice job sticking to his attack first mindset trusting his stuff to get outs. Schlicht is a 6' 2" arm that looks the part on the mound with a physical presence displaying an athletic frame. He is a north- south pitcher that does a good job working downhill. He stays on his back leg well and has good body control, releasing with whippy arm action. The FB played well at the top of the zone making it difficult for hitters to get on top of/be on time with. The SL ws his main pitch that produced weak contact , working well on the outer half striking hitters out. The pitch has late break just getting outside the zone followed by a FB that can consistently hit the outer half as well. He allowed 2 hits on the day, both being singles just getting through the INF. His tempo is sound and overall displays a competitive approach on the mound. Through 5 appearances, the Stanford commit contains a 0.70 ERA with a 44/4 KK:BB ratio with a 4-0 record.

Another Stanford commit shined for De La Salle, with Schlicht tossing a shutout on 86 pitches and getting the win over Dublin in the 1-0 pitchers’ duel. With a final line of 7 IP, 4 H, 6 K, 0 BB, and 0 R, Schlicht relied heavily on his FB/SL, mixing in his CB and throwing the CH to LHH. The FB was well located at the top of the zone and on the outer third to RHH, playing well with the SL away. The only trouble Schlicht ran into was in the 4th when Dublin had a runner on 3rd with 1 out. Schlicht induced a chopper back to himself and got the runner caught in a rundown, later getting out of the inning. Schlicht showcased swing-and-miss stuff and induced weak contact all game, thanks to his power FB and ability to throw all four pitches for strikes. Across the outing, Schlicht only reached a 3-ball count twice and generated eight groundball outs. With 16 K over 12 scoreless innings in the two Schlicht starts I’ve been to this year, I expect Schlicht to continue as the leader of the De La Salle pitching staff.

Schlicht had a dominant outing of his own in De La Salle’s season opener, matching Grove in this pitchers’ duel. The Stanford commit opened the season with a final line of 5 IP, 2 H, 9 K, 1 BB, and 0 R. Schlicht showcased a strong FB/CB/SL/CH mix, being able to get swings-and-misses with all four offerings. The junior showcased immediate poise on the mound, striking out five of the first six batters he faced. Through the first few innings, Schlicht relied on his power fastball, using it to both get ahead and put hitters away. The second time through the order, Schlicht became much more comfortable using his breaking balls, often pitching backwards. Against RHH, Schlitcht would go to his CB and SL often, generating several check swings and whiffs down and away. Versus LHH, Schlicht would incorporate his CH more often, which displayed good arm-side fade. Additionally, Schlicht did a great job limiting hard contact, generating seven ground balls across the outing. With a strong opening day start in the books, Schlicht has set himself up well for the 2025 season.
