Lopez caught my eye when I first started watching him in BP, he’s got a sweet lefty swing and stays really compact, with good extension through the baseball. He’s got a middle-middle approach and he flashed some pop to the gaps, and got some good backspin on the ball. Not the biggest guy on the team but he plays hard and he’s a smooth middle infielder. During the game against the Bears, Lopez got off a bunch of nice swings resulting in going 1-3 on the day with two balls smoked to right field that were caught. His last out, the right fielder made an unbelievable catch that robbed Lopez of a hit, probably a double. Lopez is one of those players to where once he gets more physical and some more reps he will be in good shape to keep playing at the next level. We will see if he will slide out over to the left side when Prieto graduates next season.
