Oswald was an interesting all around follow in this look, starting the game on the mound before moving to center field and continuing to impact the game there. On the bump, the left hander showed some intriguing stuff despite only working one inning. The fastball had some life to it at times, and he flashed feel for his offspeed, but command was the issue early as he struggled to consistently land the fastball and worked into traffic. Even so, there was still enough there to see some upside in the arm. Once he shifted to center, Oswald really started to stand out with his athleticism. He made a tough over the shoulder catch going back and followed it up by throwing out a runner at the plate, showing range, body control, and arm strength. At the plate, he added a hard line drive single up the middle and looked the part of a tall, physical hitter with some strength in the profile. The overall takeaway was the versatility and athleticism, and based on this look, center field appeared to be where he looked the most natural and comfortable.

Oswald has a clear presence on both sides of the ball. His 6'1, athletic frame coupled with comfort and composure makes him stand out as one of the better players on the field. From center field, Oswald presented smooth footwork, clean transitions and strong, accurate, and repeatable throws to anywhere on the diamond. While Oswald is defensively sound, much of his upside comes at the plate. He consistently spit on pitches that did not reflect his approach and punished balls when given the chance. At the plate, he's quiet and utilizes small movements to maintain rhythm. The hands sit high, hips rotate forcefully and in sequence, and the barrel works backwards and deep through the zone. As a result, one of the loudest barrels of the day came off Oswald's bat as he roped a towering ground rule double to right. He wouldn't see very many pitches in the zone after that. While he only had one hit on the day, his two previous at bats were certainly QABs evident by a ripped ground ball and line drive directly at infielders. Expect a good year from Oswald as he looks to surpass last year's numbers and get ready for his next season in Portland.
