The Central Valley finds itself represented yet again here with Daniel Jay Gonzalez putting together a strong showing during the workout portion of the day. The compactly built 5'9 171.5 lbs. Gonzalez boasts strong tools across the board as a LH hitter and catcher. He showed off solid present athleticism for a backstop by posting a 7.23 60 yard dash time with 19.3 MPH of max run speed. His defensive workout was strong with consistent low 2.0 range pop times from a present 73 MPH catcher velocity arm. Gonzalez uses presently quick hands at 21.6 MPH with a compact contact oriented bat path that moves at 67.9 MPH with intriguing torque from his lower half including 17.6 Gs of rotational acceleration. The quality of his LH swing shows up during batting practice with his strong feel for line drive contact that reached 311' of max distance while peaking at 93.2 MPH on his exit velocities.
