The reactive strength index measurement of an athlete's explosiveness by comparing their jump height to the ground contact time in between their jumps. On a scale of 0-5.
Vertical Jump
A measure of any athlete's body strength and reach calculated from the flight time divided by the contact time.
Loeb-Keene has been a name high on my personal list of arms I needed to see this spring and the Cal Baptist commit came as advertised from all the reports on him. It’s a strong present foundation from his silky smooth delivery, clean arm path, strong present arsenal, high level control and flashes command, but even more intriguingly Loeb-Keene oozes future projection with room to add strength to his frame and arm speed. Using a three-pitch mix highlighted by his FB/CHG duo which tunnel extremely well off of each other and then dropping in a solid present SLD which still has room for improvement Loeb-Keene gave the Grizzlies a strong outing. His FB lived at 86-88 MPH while touching 89 MPH multiple times over the game with running life to the arm side and plays best down in the zone or above the zone for chase. When locating his FB down the running life with sink tunnels right into a 79-81 MPH CHG which has heavy tumble and fade which induces whiff from both RH and LH hitters plus chase below the zone. His SLD functions more as a cross-count strike pitch or to open up the glove side against RH hitters. The righthander attacks hitters working ahead predominantly throughout the game and inducing a pair of huge double plays or ground ball outs in pressure situations. With a starters profile and projection to him still ahead the future for Loeb-Keene is very bright.

Loebe-Keene’s wiry, long frame at 6’2” 175lbs. immediately catches your attention thanks to his long arms and even longer legs that ooze projection when the physical maturity catches up. On the mound he was fierce, striking out four-of-five batters and getting a weak groundball to the left side for the fifth out. Working 85-87 mph with the FB he showed the ability to command it to all quadrants of the zone. He backs it up with a wipeout slider at 74-77 mph that was unhittable during his outing, though he didn’t throw many of them. The changeup is effective as it sharply fades from righties. He was also aggressive with the pitch to lefties starting way in and running it back over the plate.
