A 2027 INF/OF from Cardinal Newman, turned heads at the Prep Baseball Future Games Tryout in NorCal this past weekend. Standing at 5-foot-8 and weighing 185 pounds, his sturdy, athletic build delivers explosive strength with potential for further growth. Across the infield, Wooley fired throws at 89 mph, showcasing a lively arm, quick transfers, and polished footwork suited for shortstop or second base. In the outfield, he unleashed a 92 mph throw, combining accuracy with the ability to cover expansive ground through agile, purposeful strides. His defensive range shone brightly, allowing him to track balls effectively in both infield and outfield roles. At the plate, he recorded a max exit velocity of 97.3 mph (89.7 mph average) and a max batted distance of 351 feet, exhibiting a compact, powerful stroke with consistent gap-to-gap contact. Wooley ran a 7.11 60 YD dash during the running portion of the workout. There is a lot of power potential on Wooley’s bat, I think once he refines his approach he’s going to be a scary hitter. Wooley has a big summer coming ahead and will look to fill in on the field anyway he can, even talking to him after he might try pitching a couple innings. Wooley talks ak=ll over the field communicating with everyone around him, he’s a gamer.
