RHP Alex Arens (Glenbard North, 2026) is an intriguing arm from the day with some deception in his delivery and a loose arm from a lower release window. He showed to have some feel for his fastball around the zone with heavy running action, averaging over 17” while cruising around 82-84, topping at 85 mph. He has developing spin on his slider that showed bullet shape at 69-72 mph, while his changeup profiles well off the fastball with a similar release and arm-side traits.
Positional Profile: RHP/3B
Body: 6-3, 195-pounds. Some present strength in the lower-half, broad shoulders.
Delivery: High leg-lift, some deception, quick mover with some drop/drive, works in-line and gets down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm and lower 3/4 release, slings it.
FB: T85, 82-84 mph. Plays with heavy arm-side run and life, deceptive lower release. Sinker plays with hard arm-side run. T2148, 2110 average rpm.
SL: 69-73 mph. Shorter 10/4 shape with some feel around the zone. T1852, 1832 average rpm.
CH: 79-80 mph. Advanced feel for the zone, similar profile to the FB, hard fade to the arm-side. T1814, 1760 average rpm.
The RHP throws from a sidearm slot with a quick windup. His fastball sat 78-80 mph and touched 82 with some arm side sink that elicited many uncomfortable swings when worked inside to right handed hitters. His secondary offerings showed much promise as well, with the standout pitch being a slider in the mid 60s that had hitters flailing from both sides of the plate. At 6-foot-2 and 185 pounds, Arens shows an ideal frame for a pitcher with room to still grow.
