RHP/INF Alex Syska (Plainfield Central, 2027) had one of the better two-way showings on the day. Offensively, he took one of the more polished rounds of BP. The 5-foot-11, 176-pound, right-handed hitter has a direct, on-plane swing. He was on time and on the barrel, uses the whole field; 93.2 mph average exit velocity, T99 and sent his furthest batted ball 351’. Defensively, he showed steady actions, topped at 82 mph across the infield and has a chance to stick on the dirt moving forward. On the mound he operates out of a clean, hybrid delivery with a long, loose arm path from a ¾ slot. Syska showed a three-pitch mix throughout his ‘pen, featuring a fastball that sat 81-83 mph (T84) with arm-side run. He mixed in a curveball at 67-70 mph, and rounded out his arsenal with a changeup at 72-73 mph that killed spin with fade and depth (avg. 15.4" HM).
INF/RHP Alex Syska (Plainfield Central, 2027) is another clean mover to note from the day. The right-hander has a simple delivery that he can repeat, delivering his arsenal from a clean ¾ slot. His fastball played at 80-81 mph, showing hard run to the arm-side at times with some feel for the zone. His curveball and slider both have developing spin around 70 mph, and his changeup showed big arm-side fade at 74-75 mph. On the other side of the ball, the right-handed hitter showed loose, athletic hands with whip through the zone, staying on-time throughout his round with a peak EV of 92 mph.
Positional Profile: SS/2B
Body: 5-11, 172-pounds. Athletic build, round shoulders with some strength in the lower-half.
Delivery: Side steps into his windup, controlled leg-lift with a coil into balance point, moves quickly downhill, slight drop/drive, explosive and stays in-line, athletic leg-swing finish.
Arm Action: RH. Longer arm swing, quick and full circle, ¾ slot.
FB: T82, 80-81 mph. Plays with natural run to the arm-side, flashed strikes. Sinker shows more arm-side life than the 4S, averaging 14” of HM. T1672, 1463 average rpm.
CB: 71-72 mph. 11/5 shape, short action, flashed strikes. T1226, 1226 average rpm.
SL: 69-72 mph. More lateral shape and 10/4 bite, feel for the zone. T1479, 1407 average rpm.
CH: 74-76 mph. Plays with heavy arm-side action. T1135, 1073 average rpm.
Hit: RHH. Upright, relaxed setup, short early stride. Loose, athletic hands, on time and whip through the zone. 69.2 mph bat speed with 12g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 mph max exit velocity (85.4 avg.); 312-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 81 mph. accurate; 3/4 slot; showed ability to vary; loose; full circle.
Defense: Quick feet, clean transfer, sound and soft hands, athletic mover.
Athletic Testing: 7.69 runner in the 60-yard dash; 19.40-inch max vertical jump.

An athletic 5-foot-10, 155 pounds, Syska (Plainfield, 2027) showed an easy fastball from a ¾ arm-slot that sat in the 77-81 mph range, topping at 82 and flashing a low-60s BB. The rising sophomore showed a competitive nature and should become a name to follow as his game matures on the mound.
