RHP Ben Llewellyn (Downers Grove North, 2024) toes the rubber at a physical 6-foot-3, 180-pounds with a projectable fastball and aptitude to spin two breaking balls. Llewellyn moves down the mound with intent, pitching at 83-86 mph with his fastball and flashing four-seam carry (T17.7 IVB) at times. Llewellyn landed a gradual low-70s curveball for strikes and he confidently spun a tighter, more bullet-like slider at 74-78 mph, too.
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-3, 180-pounds.
Delivery: Athletic delivery, rocker step into a high leg kick, compact drop/drive lower-half, gets momentum moving downhill.
Arm Action: RH. Short, clean arm action into a 3/4 slot.
FB: T86, 83-85 mph. Plays with life out of the hand, feel for the zone. T2164, 1821 average rpm.
CB: 71-74 mph. Knuckle-curve, short, 10/4 shape, throws for strikes. T1779, 1661 average rpm.
SL: 74-78 mph. Tight-sweeping movement, thrown with intent, tunnels off the fastball. T2001, 1658 average rpm.
CH: 77-78 mph. Thrown with intent, plays with fade. T1513, 1430 average rpm.
Currently ranked No. 198 in the state. 6-foot-3, 180-pound frame with a strong lower-half. Llewellyn fired a perfect four innings on Thursday evening, striking out 10 along the way. The big right-hander moves well for his size with an athletic operation down the mound. He hides the ball well before moving into a whippy ¾ release, creating a fastball in the 85-87 mph range and tight mid 70s slider.
Uncommitted. Projectable 6-foot-3, 180-pound build with upside. The right-hander impressed with a fluid and easy-moving delivery, producing a fastball up to 84 mph and sitting in the 82-83 mph range. He went to a short slider 10/4 at 73-74 mph to pair off the fastball as well as a straight change at 76 mph with fastball intent. Clean-moving right-hander with more left in the tank.
RHP Ben Llewellyn (Downers Grove North, 2024) is listed at a large 6-foot-3, 180-pounds and he put together a solid overall ‘pen on Monday. Llewellyn features clean, repeatable mechanics and created some effortless velocity, topping at 87.2 mph on his hardest bullet to the plate. When it came to his offspeeds, Llewellyn is still developing some feel for both a 11/5 breaking ball and a changeup with fading action but both possess some out-pitch potential.
