Heartland commit. Yates (Illinois Valley Central, 2025) showed well in this look. A clean defender up the middle with range and quality actions, Yates also showed a strong and accurate arm across the diamond. At the plate, he barreled a ball to deep right field in his second at-bat of the game, showing above-average bat speed with the swing. He’s an athletic, 5-foot-8, 160-pound build with above-average speed. He would later go 3-for-4 with a bases clearing opposite field double and two pull side singles in the Rhino’s 8-2 Friday night win.
Verbally committed to Heartland CC.
INF Cole Yates (Illinois Valley Central, 2025) turned in one of the smoother rounds of defense on the day, moving around fluidly with confident and soft hands, making plays look easy to both sides of his glove. The 7.30 runner also took a polished round of BP repeating his right-handed swing, staying flat through the zone and spraying contact to all fields.
