Liss turned in a season on the mound for Evanston that earned him third-team honors. As a senior, Liss tossed 53 frames and struck out 89. He finished the season with a 1.32 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP, obtained by allowing just 10 ER. The numbers, combined with competitiveness on the mound, saw him finish with a 7-2 record. The right-handed Liss will head to Belmont in the fall.
Belmont commit. Currently ranked No. 62 in the state and was a Preseason ProCase participant this past February. 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, athletic, strong build. Liss got the start on the mound and batted fifth in the lineup. Went six strong, shutout innings where he struck out nine batters and allowed three hits with three walks. Worked out of two bases loaded jams throughout his outing. Worked with a heavy fastball, slider mix to go after New Triers hitters. The fastball was clean out of the hand with minimal effort, played straight with life, sat 87-90 mph throughout the outing. Liss’ main secondary was his slider, able to manipulate the depth, shape and action depending on count and situation; plays with tight spin to the glove side and had the confidence to throw in any count at 77-81 mph. Continues to get better every time we see him.
Positional Profile: RHP/OF
Body: 6-1, 185-pounds. Athletic frame, strong build with evenly proportioned strength. Round shoulders with a developed lower-half.
Delivery: Up-tempo delivery, coils into a high leg-lift, drop/drive lower-half, stride works in-line with the plate, shoulders work level down the mound.
Arm Action: RH. Long plunge out of the glove into a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T90, 88-89 mph. Four-seam has some finish through the zone with an average IVB of 13.6 (T17.5). Sinker plays with heavy sinking action through the zone. Up to 18.3 inches of horizontal movement with an average of 13.9. T2227, 2169 average rpm.
CB: 75-76 mph. Sharp 11/5 shape, late action with above-average spin. 2620 RPM average (T2712). Averaged -12.9 inches of horizontal movement (T-15.2). T2712, 2621 average rpm.
SL: 79-80 mph. 10/4 shape, sharp action with late break, above-average spin. Averaged 2537 RPM (T2677). T2677, 2537 average rpm.
Liss on the other hand, came out firing fastballs in the 87-89 mph range, topping out at 90 mph with an average of 2,370 RPM. He showed two different breaking balls, and both featured plus spin; with his curveball averaging 2,733 RPM (70-72 mph) and his slider averaging 2,840 RPM (74-75 mph. To round out his arsenal, he went to a hard diving splitter at 77-78 mph.
Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 141 in the Illinois 2023 class. Strong, athletic looking 6-foot, 180-pound frame. Started on the mound against No. 23 Marsit and went six scoreless innings with six strikeouts and surrendered just two hits. His arm works long and loose out of the glove, repeatable arm-circle, playing from a ¾ to high ¾ slot with arm-speed. Liss easily repeated his delivery, moving with an athletic leg-kick into balance point, before shifting into a slight drop/drive lower-half that strides in-line down the mound. The right-hander’s fastball sat 86-89 mph throughout his entire outing, running to the arm-side and entering the zone at a steep angle thanks to him staying tall at release. He showed a knack to spin the breaking ball, playing off a 10/4 plane with tight spin and sharp action, occasionally coming from an 11/5 plane when he stayed more on top of it, 75-77 mph. His changeup possesses similar qualities to his fastball, running into right-handed hitters while maintaining arm-speed. The right-handed hitter also hit lead off for the Wikdkits and delivered a ringing triple to the right-field gap to start the game. Liss is a sure-fire follow for this coming spring.

Arm Action: RH. Quick separation into a high 3/4 slot.
FB: T89.6, 87.6-89.2 mph. Slight arm side run. T2412, 2332 average rpm.
CB: 70.0-71.8 mph. 11/5 shape, above average spin. T2688, 2602 average rpm.
SL: 71.9-74.1 mph. Plays from a lower slot, gets on the side to create side spin, lateral action. T2832, 2740 average rpm.
Right-handers Hank Liss (Evanston) proved to be a pair of need-to-know arms from the event. Liss’ high-end feel for spin – 2,333 rpm average on the fastball, 2,704 on the curve, and 2,811 on the slider – helped separate himself from the group.

Hit: RHH. Balanced setup, smooth load, short stride. Level, short swing, line drive gap to gap approach.
Power: 89.17 max exit velocity, averaged 80.04 mph. 301’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 82 mph. Long arm action, high 3/4 slot, accurate.
Defense: Fluid footwork, clean exchange, plays through the ball.
Run: 7.87 runner in the 60.
Positional Profile: RHP/2B.
Body: 6-0, 160-pounds. Athletic frame, lean build.
Delivery: Works from middle of rubber, tall/fall type, high leg kick, lands in line with target, shoulders level.
Arm Action: RH. Natural high 3/4 arm slot. Ability to change arm angles and throw multiple pitches from multiple slots.
FB: T82, 78-81 mph. Two-seam type, run and sink action, showed control, dropped slot out of stretch
CB: 61-63 mph. 10/4 shape, sharp action and late bite at times, average spin rate of 2,403 rpm.
SL: 63-65 mph. Similar shape/action to curveball, tighter, frisbee like, average spin rate of 2,550 rpm.
Hit: RHH. Open base, tall balance setup, minimal load, long stride. Short level swing, gap-to-gap approach.
Power: 83 mph exit velocity from the tee.
Arm: RH. INF - 75 mph. Short arm action, side arm slot.
Defense: Fluid footwork, average hands, clean exchange, plays through the baseball.
Run: 7.53 runner in the 60.
Positional Profile: RHP/2B
Body: 5-11, 160-pounds. Wiry, athletic frame.
Delivery: Quick tempo to low knee lift at balance point; short stride to a closed position, toe-closed.
Arm Action: RH. Loose arm from a 3/4 slot.
FB: T80, 78-79 mph. Above-average spin (averaging 2,195 rpm) with substantial arm-side run, induced by the slot at an average of 14.9 inches.
CB: 64-64 mph. Slight deceleration; breaks early, but features above-average depth and spin from a higher slot.
SL: 67-68 mph. Mixed in a separate breaking ball from his traditional slot with later action and more sweep, thrown at arm speed; complements his fastball better. Spin rate averaged 2,524 rpm.

Delivery: Athletic drop and drive delivery, level shoulders, lands square, on line to target, athletic finish. Smooth rhythm throughout.

CB: 65-68 mph. 11/5 shape with gradual action. Thrown with intent, strikes.
