OF Ian Hazelip (Lincoln-Way West) is an uncommitted follow from this year’s State Games. Possessing a presently strong and athletic, 5-foot-10, 178-pound frame, Hazelip had a strong showing during Tuesday’s showcase. He began the event by running a 7.08 60 time, followed by a quality round of batting practice where he posted a max exit velocity of 97 mph and an average of 85.3 mph.

Hit: RHH. Wide setup, no pre-pitch movement, no stride, strong lower-half. Quick, level path, short to the ball, hard line drive contact, middle/pull-side. 71.9 mph bat speed with 13 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 max exit velocity, averaged 87.6 mph. 354’ max distance.
Arm: RH. OF - 81 mph. High 3/4 slot, shorter arc, compact action, some carry through throw.
Defense: Smooth, one-hand side gather, funnels into body, works through throw.
Run: 7.08 runner in the 60.
Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 177-pound frame, athletic build. Hit out of the four-hole and displayed a flat, simple swing with minimal wasted movement, recording a hard-hit single on the day. Takes quality at-bats, has a clear plan and zone awareness, also has displayed some jump off the barrel in past looks, reaching up to 96 mph for his max EV in-event. Uncommitted right-handed bat to know.
OF Ian Hazelip (Lincoln-Way West, 2025) was on the barrel in our brief look, recording a triple in-game on Sunday morning. 5-foot-10, 180-pound frame with some athleticism and room to add on strength. Athletic right-handed stroke, fluid load, keeps hands close to the body and fires through the zone with a flat path.
5-foot-10, 170-pound proportionate frame. Athletic presence at the plate with quiet and quick hands. His swing is compact and short, keeps the barrel in the zone a long time. Hazelip stays on plane with the baseball and flashed some bat-speed.
OF Ian Hazelip (Lincoln-Way West, 2025) is a right-handed hitting outfielder who ran a 6.97, one of the better times of the event, and worked uphill through the zone while staying on the barrel; T92.7 mph exit velocity during BP.
