CIF James Spellman (Notre Dame College Prep) stands in a physically imposing frame at 6-foot-3, 201-pounds with all kinds of strength throughout. During his round of batting practice, Spellman blasted a baseball 101.5 mph off the bat, including an average exit velocity of 90.1 mph, and a max batted distance of 340 feet. He had well above-average bat speed, posting an average bat speed of 74.1 mph (T78.9 mph). Also a 7.15 runner, Spellman showed quality defense actions at first base with a strong arm across the diamond (T88 mph). The left-handed hitter showed well during gameplay, barreling a home run over the right-center field fence. Lewis commit.

INF James Spellman (Notre Dame College Prep, 2025) gave an upside look throughout workouts with a loud round of BP. Highly projectable, 6-foot-4, 190-pound frame with room for added strength. The left-handed hitter reached up to 97.4 mph for his max exit velocity in BP with a max distance of 356’. Steady defender up the middle with reliable hands and a clean transfer, reached up to 83 mph across the diamond.

Body: 6-4, 190-pounds. Advanced frame with present levers.
Hit: LHH. Wider stance, high leg kick, simple load. Creates above-average leverage, lifted approach and developing power to all fields. Was on time and on the barrel throughout. 66.1 mph bat speed with 6 G’s of rotational acceleration.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 89 mph. 356’ max distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 83 mph. Short, clean, 3/4 slot.
Defense: Two-hand gather out front, long strides,covers ground easily up the middle, clean transfer.
Run: 7.09 runner in the 60.
C/RHP James Spellman (Notre Dame College, 2025) is another two-way 2025 who intrigued out of the event. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound, upside, broad-shouldered, left-handed hitter started his workout by clocking a 7.03 60 yd dash while also posting one of the highest max exit velocities of the day, T97.4 mph. Offensively, he has strong levers, looks to elevate the baseball, and when synced up and on time the ball jumps off the barrel. Behind the plate he registered one of the top pop times of the day at 2.06. Spellman works from an over-the-top slot on the mound and ran his fastball up to 86.9 mph, while throwing it for strikes 100% of the time.
Another catcher with a strong all-around showing was James Spellman (Notre Dame College Prep, 2025). Spellman has an advanced 6-foot-3, 185-pound frame and strong arm from the crouch that played up to 80 mph with a low pop time of 2.09. Offensively, the left-handed hitter has a loose, whippy, strong swing, stays inside the baseball and gets easy jump off the barrel. Also ran a 7.25 60.

Hit: LHH. Balanced, relaxed look in the box, smooth load and stride. Loose hands, whippy through the zone, stays inside the baseball and works uphill through the zone.

Arm: RH. C - 80 mph. Compact, over-the-top slot. Throws play accurate and with carry.
Defense: 2.09-2.26 pop times. Low setup without runners, reliable hands, tall out of the crouch, gains ground towards second, easy glove-to-hand transfer.
Run: 7.25 runner in the 60.
Delivery: Stretch only, methodical leg lift into an open footstrike.
