RHP Joe Stellano (Reed Custer, 2024) is a lean and athletic 5-foot-11, 160-pounds that moves down the mound well. Utilizing a long and loose arm action with a slight stab out of the glove, Stellano pitched comfortably in the low-80s, with his firmest bullet at 84 mph. He mixed in a low-70s slider with bite that plays well off of the fastball.
RHP Joe Stellano (Reed Custer, 2024) provided an upside look against a quality Midwest Halos team this past Saturday. Stellano, at a projectable 5-foot-11, 160-pounds, commanded the strike zone and ultimately controlled the game in a 2-0 victory. Over five innings, Stellano maintained a fastball velocity range of 82-84 mph, and struck out six batters over that time frame. He only allowed three hits and walked zero opponents, earning the victory with ease. He sporadically mixed a breaking ball and changeup as well, both thrown for strikes with fastball intent.
Uncommitted. Stellano started on the mound against Herscher and threw a no-hitter in seven innings. He tallied 15 strikeouts with one walk, only throwing 91 pitches. On the season Stellano has thrown 10 innings with 21 strikeouts, no hits, no runs, and three walks. At the plate Stellano has gone 6-for-15 (.400 BA/.526 OBP) with two home runs, eight RBIs, eight runs scored, and two stolen bases.
INF/RHP Joe Stellano (Reed Custer) showed well for himself in multiple aspects on Sunday. 5-foot-10, 160-pounds with room to fill out. The right-handed hitter has a simple stroke at the plate, looking to put the ball on a line to the whole field. On the infield, Stellano has reliable actions with soft hands and fluid footwork, reaching up to 82 mph across the diamond. Moving over to the mound, the right-hander moves with a fluid tempo throughout his operation; starting with a high/athletic leg-lift into balance point before dropping slightly into his back knee down the mound, remaining in-line with the plate. His arm plays long and loose out of the glove into a high ¾ slot. He showed feel for all three of his pitches, starting with a heavy sinking fastball that sat 80-81 mph, topping out at 82 mph. He then went to a sharp 10/4 slider at 71-73 mph and a fading changeup, 75-77 mph.
