Another prospect that seemed to constantly be reaching base was INF John St. Clair (Plainfield North, 2023). The uncommitted right-handed hitter finished 2-for-5 with three walks and a double. St. Clair has a direct, flat swing with minimal wasted movement throughout.

Body: 5-10, 165-pounds. Athletic build with strength.
Hits: RHH. Balanced lower half, hands start slotted back, toe-tap trigger, controlled through contact. Athletic hands, short simple swing, stays level through the zone. Gap-to-gap approach, covered the plate.
Power: 93 max exit velocity, averaged 82 MPH. 346' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-84 mph.Quick arm plays natural out of a 3/4 slot with the ability to throw from multiple angles.
Defense: Fluid feet on the infield, easy range and clean actions.

Smooth right-handed swing, remains level through the zone with barrel control - up the middle approach. Showed off a strong arm from the outfield during IO; carries with backspin and easy life out of the hand (91 mph in past PBR events), also moves athletically through the ball with steady hands and a clean transfer.

MIF/OF John St. Clair (Plainfield North, 2023) put together one of the event’s most well-rounded workouts. The 5-foot-10, 165-pound junior took reps on the infield and outfield, showcasing above-average arm strength from both positions. He peaked at 85 mph across the diamond and reached back for a 91 mph max from the outfield, which was amongst the event’s hardest throws. St. Clair showed quality bat-to-ball skills and a quiet, compact right-handed swing in BP, working line drives off the barrel throughout. He’s an athletic uncommitted follow in Illinois with top-of-the-order upside.
