OF, Luke McClure, Champaign Central, 2025 Wright State commit. Currently ranked No. 148 in Illinois. 5-foot-10, 162-pounds, lean and twitchy with room to add more strength in the coming years. Hit out of the leadoff spot and showed to be a threat both with the bat and on the basepaths, finishing the day 1-for-4 with a triple, RBI and a run scored. The left-handed hitter has a compact and athletic swing that stays balanced, staying short to the baseball with a line-drive and whole field approach. He has game-changing speed, showing so when he legged out a triple in which most players would have gotten held at second, he also has well above-average range and the ability to cover all sorts of ground in the outfield.
OF Luke McClure (Champaign Central; Wright State commit) had a quality showing with the bat during gameplay and the workout portion of the event. The left-left prospect is an athletic 5-foot-10, 162-pounds, and swings a flat and repeatable path at the plate that can handle velo and find the barrel. While taking batting practice, he posted an average exit velocity of 90.8 mph (T94), which had him among the event’s leaders for that particular metric. McClure stood out in other areas on the workout day as well - running the third-fastest 60 time for the event at 6.48 seconds, and also tossing one of the hardest bullets from the crow hop at 88 mph.

OF Luke McClure (Champaign Central, 2025) Wright State commit. McClure is an athletic prospect with plenty of projection still to come in his 5-foot-11, 170-pound frame. His speed stands out, as he recorded a sub-4.0 run time down the line on a bunt, and later reached first in 4.25 seconds on a single up the middle. The left-handed hitter showed a direct and flat path through the zone, tallying one hit in the game.
Wright State Commit. McClure had a dominant day on the field in Champaign Central's win over Lincoln. With the bat, he had two hits including the go-ahead RBI single. He then took the mound and got the final six outs.
Verbally committed to Wright State.
Showing well on the workout day was OF Luke McClure (Champaign Central, 2025). McClure was a 6.59 runner in the 60-yard dash at the event, which was good for third best at the State Games. A L/L outfielder, McClure also showed well with the bat during the workout with a flat bat path and a middle of the field approach, posting a peak exit velocity of 91.5 mph in his round.

McClure, a 5-foot-10, 155-pound, left/left athlete ran a 6.75 60, was 80 mph from the outfield and recorded a 29.7 inch vertical jump, fourth-best of the event. McClure plays the outfield with light feet and a high motor, ranging with ease and showing off actions that should profile him in center field for the long haul.
