SS Nick Szalony (Mundelein) showed well in an in-game look this spring and carried it over to the event. Listed at 5-foot-11, 147-pounds, Szalony has athleticism and upside throughout his game. Offensively, the right-handed hitter has a clean swing with quick hands, stayed on the barrel to all fields and flashed sneaky, easy pop at times. Defensively, he moves with ease and flow to his game on the infield. The glove is soft with a quick release and strong arm that flashed carry at 80 mph. 7.00 runner in the 60.
Uncommitted. Listed at 5-foot-11, 142-pounds with plenty of room to fill out the frame; started at shortstop and batted leadoff for the Mustangs. Szalony showed the ability to repeatedly be on the barrel from the right side throughout the game. In his first at-bat, he laced a hard single to the opposite field, and later came around to score. In his next at-bat, Szalony swatted a triple down the left field line, driving in a run. The right-handed hitter has a crouched setup with some pre-pitch movement in the hands, before moving into a short leg kick stride. His hands load back, working into a level bat path that creates extension at contact. Defensively, Szalony trusts his hands and makes the routine plays look routine, with an accurate arm to pair.

SS/RHP Nick Szalony (Mundelein, 2025) is a two-way prospect, listed at a lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 148-pounds. Szalony may have impressed the most on defense, where he showed clean footwork with soft hands and a quick release. During batting practice Szalony, a right-handed hitter showed an athletic swing with twitchy bat speed (70.3 mph average), also producing mid-80s exit velocities. Szalony also ran a 7.26 60-yard dash. Szalony then hopped on the mound and showed a four-pitch mix. His fastball consistently sat in the upper 70’s topping at 78.5 mph with some carry to it. Szalony showed two breaking balls with his slider playing like a slurve and living at the bottom of the zone, and a developing curveball with gradual break. Rounding out his mix was a changeup with downer action.
