RHP Stevan Gavric (Libertyville) gave an upside look on the mound over the weekend. Listed at 6-foot-4, 185-pounds with lean strength and room to fill out, the right-hander delivered his arsenal from an athletic delivery that works in-line to the plate, transitioning into a long/loose ¾ slot. His fastball played in the 86-88 mph range with carry and over 2400 rpm at times, playing at the top of the zone and setting up a sharp, slurvy 10/4 curveball at 74-77 mph (2300+ rpm). His final offering was a heavy fading changeup at 79-80 mph, playing clean out of the hand with efficient spin.
6-foot-4, 170-pound frame. Athletic build with plenty of room to grow. Gavric was able to hold the opposition to one unearned run in four innings while striking out six. Gavric threw with a ¾ slot with a long, loose, clean arm action with little effort. Has a side-step delivery, high leg lift, tall and fall, lands towards home. Fastball sat low 80s, topping out at 83 mph with arm-side run. Mixed in a high 60s curveball that kept hitters on their toes.
One of the top bullpens of the day came from 6-foot-4, 168-pound, RHP/3B Stevan Gavric (Libertyville, 2025). The long-levered right-handed pitcher showed a low-effort, repeatable delivery that worked down the mound with a loose, clean arm with acceleration out front. His fastball sat 83-86 mph and topped out at 87 mph, with heavy armside run, 2359 top spin rate. His curveball, which played more like a slider, sat in the low-70s with an average spin rate of 2217. Rounding out his three-pitch mix, Gavric showed a change-up with developing feel. Gavric also showed intrigue as a position player, running a 7.16 60, impressive for his size. He also showed an upside swing and topped at 81 mph across the infield.
