6/05/25
Shannon, a Louisville commit, allowed only one unearned run in six and two-thirds innings of work, striking out 11 batters in McHenry’s 2-1 victory against Jacobs.
5/14/25

Louisville commit, currently ranked No. 6 in the state and No. 81 nationally. Long-levered 6-foot-3, 181-pound frame with projectability. Shannon started on the mound for the Warriors, flashing swing and miss stuff with his four pitch mix. He got on hitters quick with his fastball that sat 94-96 mph early on, and settled into 90-94 mph in the seventh inning. He also possessed a sharp 12/6 curveball at 77-79 mph, a tight horizontal slider at 79-82 mph, and a splitter at 84-86 mph that played with downer action. The right-hander operated out of a rhythmic, easy delivery with a high leg kick, and a loose ¾ arm slot, displaying repeatability. He would come just two outs shy of a complete game, finishing with ten strikeouts on only one earned run. Another impressive performance from the senior arm, who continues to put together an incredible spring ahead of the draft.

5/07/25

The Super 60 alum and Louisville commit continues to dominate, tossing a no-hitter against Burlington Central. Shannon was dominant for seven innings, allowing no runs, no hits, two walks, and struck out 12.

4/14/25

Louisville commit. Currently ranked No. 6 in the state and No. 81 nationally. Trim, long-levered 6-foot-3, 181-pound frame with room for added strength in the future. Started on the mound for the Warriors. Loose and athletic mover down the mound paired with a quick arm, high ¾ slot. He limited hard contact and worked around trouble on the bases a couple times, showing maturity and composure. His fastball sat 91-94 mph (T95), while holding that velo throughout his start, showing life and armside run. His breaking ball played in the 77-79 mph range, garnering occasional swing and miss, while Shannon would also mix in an 87-88 mph splitter to round out his mix. An MLB Draft follow to continue to monitor throughout the spring.

2/03/25

Super 60: It’s been fun to see the meteoric rise of Shannon, going from making his showcase debut at the McHenry Preseason ID last February to pitching in the Super 60 not even a year later. There is obvious upside in Shannon’s lean, high-waited 6-foot-3, 181-pound frame, and it should only continue to trend in the right direction over the coming years. There is still plenty to project on in the way Shannon works down the mound, surely holding more in the tank that should get capitalized on with further development, strength and maturity. He slings it from a ¾ release window, and impressed with a fastball up to 95 mph, cruising around the 92-94 mph range with hard running action to his arm-side, also showing the ability to land it in the zone around 80% of the time per TrackMan. He throws both of his breaking balls with intent in the low/mid-80s, both playing with some slurvy shape and bullet-type action that should continue to get better as he goes throughout his career. His final offering was a splitter that he killed spin on in the 87-89 mph range, profiling as one of his best pitches from a pitch design standpoint with right around 0 IVB, also flashing some late drop. Shannon is a perfect arm for pro scouts to follow given his big upside and rawness, and there will likely be a good amount of teams tracking down the McHenry product this spring.

1/24/25

The Louisville commit was one of the more dominant arms in the state last spring, earning Second-Team All-State after he tossed 60.1 innings with a 10-0 record, 82 strikeouts, 27 walks and a 1.86 ERA. Shannon has some of the best swing and miss stuff in the state, and we expect him to put up even better numbers this coming spring.

7/01/24

Verbally committed to Louisville.

6/05/24

Uncommitted. Currently ranked No. 33 in the state, standing in at a loose-limbed 6-foot-3, 160-pounds. Shannon got the start for the Warriors in the Sectional Semifinals and continued to show why his stock has been rising over the course of the year. His fastball played in the upper 80’s consistently throughout the game; sitting 88-90 mph (T91) with life through the zone. His slider played tighter in this look at 77-79 mph, while flashing an 11/5-shaped curve to go with it, rounding out his arsenal with a splitter at 81 mph with downer bite to it. Shannon turned in a final line of: W, 6 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 3 BB, 6 K.

4/22/24

Uncommitted, currently ranked No. 35 in the state. Got the start for the Warriors and showed upside throughout his outing. Listed at a projectable 6-foot-3, 160-pounds, Shannon is an athletic mover down the mound. He works with a quick, compact arm action, releasing the ball from a high ¾ slot. He pounded the zone throughout his outing (65% strikes), and had confidence in all three of his offerings. His fastball sat 84-87, touching 88 in the first inning with some sink to it. He went to a 75-79 mph breaking ball with 11/5 shape for consistent swings and misses, while also going to an 80-82 mph splitter with sharp downer action to round out his arsenal. Shannon finished the day with seven strikeouts over his six innings of work and will be a junior arm to continue to keep tabs on this spring.

2/10/24

RHP Brandon Shannon (McHenry, 2025) gave our staff an eye-opening first look on Saturday. He has a highly projectable frame, coming in at 6-foot-3, 160-pounds with long limbs and a high-waist. He has an easy and athletic delivery, and there’s plenty of upside in his operation alone. The right-hander cruised with his fastball around 89-90 mph, pounding the zone with running action and finish, playing with easy life from his high ¾ release. His curveball and slider both have out-pitch potential, with his curveball playing around 75-79 mph (T2664 RPM) and his slider sitting around 77-80 mph (T2411 RPM), delivering both offerings with arm-speed and late bite. To round off his arsenal he went to a splitter in the 83-85 mph range, falling off the table with running action to his arm-side. High-upside arm with his best days still yet to come.
