Worked behind the plate in the game on Sunday. Showed well above-average defense from the catcher position. Has strong hands to stick pitches and present them around the zone. Earned a hit in four tries at the plate, and hit the ball hard when recording outs. Has quick hands and a violent swing with controlled aggression.
Huff is ranked No. 25 in the class of 2026 and also is the top ranked catcher. Huff showed off his defensive prowess on Thursday by his pop and well above-average arm. Huff kept control of balls in the dirt by keeping them in front of him and limiting runners from advancing. At the plate Huff shows a calm and balanced stance that manufactured plenty of strong contact throughout the day.
C Jacob Huff (Delavan-Darien, 2026) opened some eyes at the event with his performance. The 5-foot-8, 135-pound projectable framed backstop had an event best 1.86 seconds pop time. He showed quick feet and quick transfers to turn the ball around to second base very quickly. At the plate, he hits with a rhythmic toe tap gather and shows very fast hands in delivering consistent barrel contact hitting balls gap to gap. Huff is a prospect who we saw during the winter at our Madison Rising Stars ID and also at The Rock during the 14U Summer Championships. In between those looks, it seemed that Huff was hard at work, as he put together a productive weekend both at the plate and behind it. Huff swings a competitive and smooth right-handed bat and he’s able to shoot line drives from gap-to-gap. Defensively, he is also an above-average receiver with quick feet that produced lows of 2.19 on his throws to second.
