A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
+ LHP Paxton Schuh (Kaukana, 2026) measured in a tapered 6-foot-1, 198 pounds with just an 11.9% body-fat percentage and just over 100 pounds of skeletal muscle mass. Presenting a rocker step delivery with a clean low 3/4s arm slot, the left-hander would sport both an upper-80s four-seam fastball and mid-80s sinker with life out of the hand on the former and late running action on the latter. The Kaukauna product would also show a mid-70s slider with tight action and an upper-70s-low-80s changeup.

Schuh emerged as a left-handed arm to follow in Wisconsin's rising junior class this past weekend, presenting a projectable frame with impressive stuff on the mound. The fastball would sit in the 82-84 mph range and was paired with a slider in the low-70s. Coming from a low 3/4s arm slot with deceptive actions, Schuh did a great job of keeping hitters off balance.
