As his junior season was coming to its end, OF Austin Beck (North Davidson HS, NC) was enjoying a great start to the calendar year. The North Carolina recruit was helping his team compete for a state championship and after that would be a summer of traveling. As a top prospect, he’d be a likely invite to high-level events, not to mention the tournaments he’d play in with the Dirtbags. Unfortunately, Beck would have to watch it all from the sidelines, including the final out of North Davidson’s state title clincher.

Warming up before the second round of the state tournament, Beck fielded a ball and took a crow hop before throwing, like he has done so many times before.
