Coming into the fourth-annual Prep Baseball Report Future Games on July 31-Aug. 2, I was well-aware of the top-ranked prospects from our coverage area, knew all about their abilities, and their high ceilings. There were many players at the event, however, who were not common names … at least not yet.

What I enjoyed most about this event were not all the 90-mph fastballs being flashed. Or the ridiculous positional arm strength. Or the sheer physical strength of these 15- and 16-year-old players. No. What I found most intriguing were the more under-the-radar prospects who emerged to the fore and seized the opportunity before them.
