Recruiting Essentials: College Prospect Camps

By Brandon Hall
North Carolina Director of Scouting

College camps are an important aspect to any college baseball program.  They offer the college baseball programs the opportunity to watch players, have players visit, work with players, stretch their budget, and pay their staff.  At varying levels, the importance of any one factor may take a precedent over others.

With 20 years of experience at the Division 1 level, I promise I have experienced my fair share of camps.  The high school level camps are, by far, the best of the camps.  We could do a complete other segment on PBR about youth camps and the stories witnessed and heard.  But for our audience, it is best we stay with the high school camps, their impact on a college program, and how players can plan their attendance.
