Technology has stream-lined communication in recent years.  There are options for anyone wanting to reach out to another person ranging from video chats to emails to Snap Chat, Twitter, Facebook, and texting. Recruiting is sometimes referred to as an ability to build relationships with players.  Coaches will use every piece of communication possible to reach players of interest. Players can do the same.  In using text messages versus other forms of communication, players should examine the information they are wishing to convey to college coaches and determine if text message is the best way to proceed. 

How Do Text Messages Fit

Text messages are short, quick ways to reach out and communicate. They allow for short quick answers as well. When deciding to use a text message, players should see text messaging as a familiar form of communication, meaning that the person sending and receiving have a relationship where each person is familiar with the other. First forms of communication should be email and phone calls.
