This was my second look at Freschi on the season, and he continues to impress me with his hit tool, putting together a three-hit day out of the 2-hole for Vintage. With an all-fields and aggressive approach at the plate, Freschi wasted little time, swinging at the first pitch in three of his four AB’s, and didn’t the Windsor pitching staff get comfortable against him. After smoking a 1-1 FB into LCF for a double in his first trip, Freschi would pull two straight first pitch singles to the right side, one liner and one hard-hit grounder. Freschi would end his day with a first-pitch, hard-hit grounder to the 2B. With a solid frame and a bat path that works directly through the zone, Freschi consistently manages to find the barrel. Adding in good bat-to-ball skills, quick hands, and a contact-oriented approach in the box, Freschi helps set the table for Vintage’s offense. The St. Mary’s commit exhibited good speed throughout the game, adding three stolen bases on the day, one after each hit. Defensively, Freschi continues to profile well at SS, demonstrating quiet feet, good range, a quick release, and solid instincts at the position. With plus tools on both sides of the ball, Freschi will look to make an impact at the next level for the Gaels.
3/20/25
Hitting out of the leadoff spot for Vintage, Freschi shows an aggressive approach at the plate and caught my attention with his defense at SS. Defensively, Freschi had a couple of standout plays in the field. In the top of the 5th, Freschi would range deep to his right on a hard grounder in the 5-6 hole to make a backhanded stop in shallow left and fire a perfect one-hopper to get the bang-bang play at 1st. Freschi would follow this up in the top of the 7th with a smooth 6-4-3 double play on a ball hit at him that he initially bobbled, staying with it and still having time to turn two thanks to a quick glove flip to the 2B. Freschi demonstrates quiet feet, good hands, a strong arm, quick release, and solid instincts at SS, with the opportunity to stick at the position at the next level. Offensively, Freschi attempted to ambush the Acalanes pitching staff early, going 1-3 with a single on the day. He started his day at the plate with a hard-hit grounder hit directly at the 2B in his first AB. Freschi would follow this up in his second AB with a first-pitch barrel to RCF in his second AB which was run down by the CF thanks to a solid jump. Freschi would end his day working a 3-1 count in his third trip before fighting off a FB inside that landed in no man’s land in shallow LCF for a base hit. At the plate, Freschi shows good bat-to-ball skills, quick hands, and a strong base.

at Justin-Siena HS - Lead-off hitter and starting 2nd baseman; compact body type with proportional strength, made numerous plays at 2B while showing ability to go to his left and right and play on the move, showed willingness and depth on pop ups into the shallow OF with strong glove skills on those plays, lively hitting hands with ability to make routine barrel contact in just about any zone and any type of pitch, showed steady heartbeat as final hitter in the game and down to his last strike by slamming a line drive on high FB only to have it find the glove of the RF, an exciting LHH talent in the 2025 class to keep an eye on.
