Maula put together one of the louder rounds of batting practice at the San Diego Summer ID, showcasing pull-side power with intent to lift the baseball. A physical 5-10, 188-pound frame, Maula generated standout impact at the plate with a max exit velocity of 100.3 mph and an average of 95.7. He launched seven home runs across two rounds of BP, including a peak distance of 375 feet, flashing a heavy barrel with an impressive 87.5% hard hit rate and 62.5% sweet spot rate. Offensively, it’s an aggressive swing that works to elevate and get the bat head out in front and extended. Defensively, Maula showed solid catch-and-throw ability behind the dish with a 1.99-2.05 pop time and 79 mph catcher velocity which led all catchers participating in the event. The transfer is quick and the hand is behind the ear at release point. Transferring to Eastlake HS for his senior year, Maula can step in and help a Titans squad that made the SD Section: Open Division Semifinals this past spring.
