San Diego Summer ID: Event Analysis

On Tuesday, July 1st, the Prep Baseball California staff traveled to the Maranatha Christian HS in San Diego, California for the San Diego Summer ID. This open event was host to over 25 players, and it consistently gives our staff a strong look at the talent the area has to offer.

Today, we’re taking a look at all of the scouting reports from the event, including a top-10 overall ranking.

TOP OVERALL PROSPECTS

1. Oliver Allen, Patrick Henry High School (CA), 2027
Positional Profile: SS/2B Athletic MIF with a balanced swing and gap-to-gap impact.
Body: 5-9, 167-pounds. Compact frame with present strength throughout.
Hit: RHH. Balanced throughout, hands right behind ear. Short stride with gradual movement going back and then forward. Strong hands, stays level, gap to gap approach. 67 mph bat speed with 11g of rotational acceleration.
Power: 97 mph max exit velocity (84.8 avg.); 351-foot max batted distance.
Arm: RH. INF - 88 mph. Short, high 3/4 slot, ball possesses carry.
Defense: Stays low with a steady head, natural look.
Athletic Testing: 7.02 runner in the 60-yard dash.
