Positional Profile: 3B/1B Corner INF with quick bat and flashes of power.
Body: 5-8, 181-pounds. Sturdy, broad frame with strength present in the upper half.
Hit: LHH. Sets up upright in a slightly open stance with hands in front of the shoulder, a high back elbow, and a small bat waggle. Initiates the load by sinking into the back knee as the hands drift back slightly and the barrel tips vertical. Uses a toe-tap trigger for timing before a minimal, controlled stride forward, landing even and staying tall through the finish. Hips begin to turn as the front heel lands, keeping hands back for good separation. Shows present bat speed with a level swing path. Produces frequent hard contact with a line drive, pull side approach with some power flashed. Can work the opposite field at times. 66.3 mph bat speed with 5 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 94 max exit velocity, averaged 86.8 mph. 293' max distance.
Arm: RH. INF-79 mph. Quick out of the glove with some length in the arm path. Works from a low 3/4 slot, producing solid carry and present arm speed. Consistently throws through the bag and profiles well for 3B.
Defense: Gets low in his pre-pitch setup with quick, compact footwork, actively working to get around the ball. Shows soft hands that stay out in front with minimal movement and lets the ball travel into his frame. Corner INF profile.
ATH: 7.25 runner in the 60. 1.65 and 3.97 in the 10 and 30 yard splits. 22.20 max vertical.
Vizual Edge: 67.77 Edge Score
Smith has been a solid performer at a pair of Prep Baseball California Invite-Only events, but this was my first chance to get an extended look at him in a live high school game and needless to say I did not come away disappointed. Having seen him play a solid 3B/1B in the past he showcased more versatility by playing a solid LF and looking very comfortable out there. The versatility for him on defense is intriguing because I absolutely love his LH swing and feel to hit which provides more opportunities for him to get in the lineup at the next level. His swing is quick with leverage through the zone and he stays behind the baseball with his body very well allowing him to generate line to line hard contact. Smith is hitterish in the box attacking hittable pitches in the zone and with a knack for finding the barrel he hits those balls hard. Solidly built presently, but with room to improve his strength/athleticism there is plenty to like about the future for Smith and is a name college programs should keep eyes on.

Positional Profile: 3B/1B Shows intriguing upside as LH hitter with feel to hit, bat speed developing and power potential while adding corner defender profile.
Body: 5-8, 181-pounds. Compact build with some emerging strength throughout.
Delivery: Low hand set with hands tight to the body while syncing with his front leg in the load portion of delivery. Coils the front side slightly before working down the mound with his front leg into foot strike with a medium length stride. Uses hips well and flashes feel to block on his front side.
Arm Action: RH. Full clean arm path with depth out of the glove and feel to repeat his solid present arm speed and minimal recoil. Works to a 3/4 or high 3/4 slot.
FB: T80, 78-80 mph. Flashes decent spin with ability to generate some ride and run on the pitch will need to polish control T2120, 1826 average rpm.
CB: 69-73 mph. Spins it well with good present metrics and ability to throw it for strikes. T2353, 2059 average rpm.
CH: 71-71 mph. Kills spin well, but needs to develop feel for the offering T1200, 1200 average rpm.
ATH: 7.28 runner in the 60. Runs with a taller posture showing quickness to his stride and body control.

Positional Profile: 3B/1B Shows intriguing upside as LH hitter with feel to hit, bat speed developing and power potential while adding corner defender profile.
Body: 5-8, 181-pounds. Compact build with some emerging strength throughout.
Hit: LHH. Balanced set up with hips and weight slightly on his back leg with open feet while hinging slightly at the hips. High back elbow with hands set off the rear shoulder at same height and uses a bat waggle. Shifts into his back leg to start the load with a leg kick to get his front side moving. Lands with taller posture and maintains in through the turn. Upper body creates tilt/lean back at finish. Uphill path with hands and barrel geared to elevate the baseball. 68.9 mph bat speed with 6 G's of rotational acceleration.
Power: 92 max exit velocity, averaged 81.9 mph. 326' max distance. Uphill path that is geared for lift, but showed some inconsistency to his rhythm/timing that effected his consistency. Flashes impact to pull side with solid present top end EV and has HR potential.
Arm: RH. INF-80 mph. Medium length arm path out of glove with quickness to the arm stroke that shows 3B profile.
Defense: Hands are good with fundamental actions to his feet and the ability to play low with his hips. Can get more dynamic, but shows solid present profile.
ATH: 7.28 runner in the 60. Runs with a taller posture showing quickness to his stride and body control.
